27 October 2022 - Today in the Kazakh capital Astana in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the European Council Charles Michel, representatives of the company ‘HYRASIA ONE’ - a subsidiary of the European holding ‘SVEVIND Energy Group’ - and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed an Investment Agreement, within the framework of which it is planned to build in Kazakhstan one of the world's largest enterprises for the production of clean ‘green’ (environmentally safe) hydrogen with a total investment amount of 40 gigawatts.

In order to realise the HYRASIA ONE project, it is planned to build wind and photovoltaic power plants with a projected capacity of 40 gigawatts in the south-west of Kazakhstan. The renewable energy produced by these plants with a capacity of 120 terawatt-hours per year will power an industrial zone of electrolysers on the Caspian Sea coast with a total capacity of 20 gigawatts and a capacity of up to two million tonnes of ‘green’ hydrogen per year. By comparison, this capacity is equivalent to one fifth of the European Union's expected green hydrogen import demand by 2030. Thus, the HYRASIA ONE project could provide a strong foundation for emerging hydrogen markets in Europe, in Kazakhstan itself, as well as in Asian countries.
